I see what I believe

and I'm filled with

wonder

about the infinite

potential of existence

Because everything exists

once it has been

designed in mind

Cynthia VandenBor (1973) is a Rotterdam based artist who creates elegant and evocative paintings of birdwomen - feminine figures that transcend the ordinary. These hybrid beings stand poised  between two realms, the world of limitation and the world of freedom and conscious manifestation.

With delicate feathers and graceful postures they symbolise the inner duality of the human spirit.

Each birdwoman is both a mirror and a muse, she reflects the universal longing for absolute freedom. While reminding us of the invisible restrictions shaped by culture, upbringing and our own limiting beliefs. While her art is rich in symbolism, Cynthia also embraces the decorative aspect of it. Because for her beauty matters.

A painting must captivate at first glance, it must appeal before it is even understood.

From 2007 - 2021, Cynthia worked as an artist at a Rotterdam primary school where she guided children to develop their creativity, working together and learning to think in solutions.

Since 2017, Cynthia has been working at the Moutery Foundation in Schiedam, where she teaches and guides (lonely) elderly people with creative activities and painting lessons.

In addition to painting her own artworks, teaching children and adults gives her great satisfaction and she says she lives according to her 'dharma'. A life in which she uses her talent to enrich the lives of herself and others.
